A downloadable adventure

Premise:

Her Excellency Anthelia, Blood-Countess of Kergüs, has determined to amuse herself by holding a tournament in Alliáns: the final tournament to be held before the end of all things. All the noble families of her domain have been called to attend. For months, the tourney has progressed without a victor as hundreds of nobles sought renown. Now, their banners are tattered and their armor is soiled, and Anthelia risks growing bored.

A wealthy but titleless burgher has offered to pay a late-entrance fee for you to attend in their name so that they might gain favor with Her Excellency. There is rumored to be a prize for the champion so incredible that it has stilled even the most active of tongues: to be declared the legitimate heir of the Blood-Countess...

If your tabletop group is looking for an opportunity to engage in brutal tournament combat, to hobnob with all manner of nobles, to get the chance to be bombarded with adventure hooks, and potentially to win the heart of Anthelia herself ... this scenario/setting might be for you!

Don't need a tournament? Well, download it for the d66 noble participants, with an extra d6 table of connections one or more might have to your past.

This is a fantastic idea, but I am a bit confused: what are the HP stats of the NPC combatants?

I think I assumed NPCs would fight until three successful strikes occurred, whether by them or against them. (The “Anyone who reaches 0 HP…” rule would then apply to the PCs.)

If you need something more concrete, I would recommend either giving everyone something like d6 HP or HP based on the tournament round and the “three successful strikes” rule (which would make later rounds more difficult for the PCs, I recognize)–so something like:

Round 1: 3 HP Round 2: 6 HP Round 3: 9 HP

Thank you, that is helpful! If PCs go beyond 0 HP, into the minuses, do they die as per the normal rules?

I would say no myself (especially since there’s magical healing between each round), but if you want to make the tournament feel even more brutal, then go for it.

Thanks! That's very helpful. I'm really looking forward to running this tournament with my friend!
